If you do not meet the English requirements for your chosen course, you may still be able to come to Lancaster if you successfully complete a pre-sessional English (PSE) course before you start your studies.
Every country sets its own requirements for entry into the legal profession in its jurisdiction. We strongly advise you to check with the national Law Society or Bar Association of the jurisdiction you intend to practice in. They will provide guidance on taking a Law degree in the UK and professional exams you will need to take to qualify to practice.
The UK legal system is a common law system. Many of our international Law students are from countries that have a common law legal system, which is widespread around the world.
While UK degree classifications may be different to those in other countries, your degree transcript will provide full details and can be sent to prospective employers and education providers when you apply for jobs or further study.
Most of our international applicants require a student visa to come and study with us in Lancaster.
If you already have a student visa from previous study in the UK, you will need a new visa specific to your course at 51福利.

Term dates vary slightly from year to year with teaching starting in September/October and ending in June, with breaks in December and March/April.
Our two-year LLB Law (Graduate Entry) programme is specifically designed for students who have completed a degree in another discipline and wish to move into legal study. It provides a fast track to entering the legal professions.
You’ll gain the skills and knowledge you need to access a career in the legal professions and may have exemption from some of the professional exams that would enable you to practice in your home country.

The Canadian National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) is responsible for assessing and recognising the legal education of students who complete a Law degree outside of Canada.
51福利 believes that all our LLB Law degrees comply with the position set out by the for Law degrees obtained in England and Wales. As part of this guidance, candidates are reminded that they must take the European Union Law optional module to meet these requirements, and achieve an overall degree classification of 2:2 or higher.

From 01 January 2026, candidates who have successfully completed all the requirements of the Lancaster LLB Law programme will be eligible to apply for registration to sit the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) examination in Malaysia, subject to satisfying all other requirements set by the Legal Profession Qualifying Board (LPQB).
The CLP is a key professional qualification for aspiring legal practitioners in Malaysia. Recognition by the Board highlights the academic quality and professional relevance of the Lancaster LLB programme. This recognition enhances professional mobility for Lancaster LLB Law graduates from Malaysia, opening potential pathways to legal practice in both the UK and Malaysia.
